We are delighted to welcome our new Senior Digital Account Manager, Luke Harling to TAL Agency! Taking the lead on all clients’ accounts and communications, Luke is here to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. With more clients and a busy working day for all teams, it’s fantastic to have an experienced account manager on board with us. So, let’s find out more about our new recruit! 

First (and honest) impressions of TAL Agency and everyone in it?

Being the only southerner in the office, I feared I would get a fair bit of stick, but luckily, I have managed to avoid any talk about being a soft southerner. First impressions of everyone have been amazing. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming, and the expertise in their various fields is clear to see. 

Describe TAL Agency in three words

Refreshing, fun, and committed.

What did you do previously?

My whole career has been working in agencies in various account management roles across the last eight years. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some great clients in both B2B and B2C sectors. In the last four years, I’ve been working in digital-focused agencies, which is definitely what I enjoy most. 

Thoughts on agency life so far?

TAL Agency has been a breath of fresh air for me. I found it challenging working solely at home for the last 18 months, so the opportunity to come back into the office safely – with a hybrid approach – has given me a massive spring in my step. The fact that Claire and Lee put so much importance on everyone’s wellbeing is not something I’ve seen in other agencies I’ve worked at. I also have been impressed with everybody’s commitment to a Fat Friday lunch!

So, what exactly do you do here?

My main responsibility is to ensure that clients receive the best experience possible. Essentially, acting as the clients’ representative at TAL Agency ensures that their projects all run smoothly and in line with clients’ objectives. 

What motivates you in your work?

The thing that motivates me most is interacting with different people each day. The nature of this job means that no two days are the same, which I really love. The work that we do often directly affects our clients’ success, which is a massive motivation for me, and seeing the results of all the team’s hard work makes it all worth it. 

What’s the best part of your working day?

The best part has to be when you get amazing feedback from a client about the work the team at TAL Agency are doing, and the positive impact it is having on their business! 

What are you looking forward to at TAL Agency?

I’m really looking forward to being part of a young agency that is growing so quickly and has already delivered so many great results for clients. I hope to be able to impact client experiences in a positive way.

Who would be your dream clients?

As a massive sports fan and big Fulham FC fan, I would be absolutely delighted to get the chance to be involved with their digital marketing campaigns. 

Who do you look up to in your industry?

I’ve been lucky that all of the managers I’ve had in all the agencies I’ve worked at have been amazing with me, and I have been lucky to learn so much. In terms of well-known people in the industry, I am a massive fan of Simon Sinek’s talks online and admire his people-first approach. 

Favourite TV show?

This is such a difficult question as it changes all the time. I have recently watched some really good series, like The Serpent, The Handmaid’s Tale, and BBC’s Time. But the show I can always go back to at any time is Friends. Ross Geller is a hero. 

What does your work soundtrack look like?

I’m a big fan of a laid-back playlist to help me focus during the work day. Spotify’s lofi beats playlist is a particular favourite.

What’s one power you wish you had?

It has to be the ability to stop time – I always wanted to have ‘Bernard’s Watch’ as a kid.

Have you ever met anyone famous? If so, tell us about it

I am a massive fan of Louis Theroux and binge-watch any of his documentaries, so when I was lucky enough to meet him at a music festival a few years ago, I knew I had to get a picture with him. 

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

Chief Taster at Cadbury’s.

What’s your favourite animal and why?

I’m going to be really controversial here and say that I’m not actually a big animal lover. I think partly because I’m scared of almost all animals. But, if I had to choose, it would probably be a sloth – those guys look so chilled out all of the time!

Tell us something we don’t know about you…

I took part in a white-collar boxing match a couple of years ago…. It didn’t end well!

What’s your brew order?

In the morning, it would have to be a strong coffee, however, in the afternoon, you cannot beat a good cup of tea with a Digestive biccy.

You’re having a dinner party with any three people from history, dead or alive, who do you invite?

I think it would be a funny night if I could get these three together in a room: Ricky Gervais, Samuel L. Jackson, and Joe Marler. 

You’re going to a deserted island, what three things do you take with you?

A lighter (I am no Bear Grylls), hammock, and my very own Wiiiiiilllssssooooooon!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Don’t judge me, but……..Cold baked beans.
